The Biden administration on Monday blacklisted five individuals accused of comprising a “network” of “facilitators” working on behalf of Islamic State. According to the US Treasury Department they’ve been raising funds for the group in Indonesia and Turkey and then using part of those funds to recruit and smuggle fighters into Syria while sending the rest of the money to IS in Syria to support its operations. The blacklisting means any funds those five people had stashed in the US can be frozen and it criminalizes any interaction with them by US citizens.
